Our Mission

To inspire, educate and empower young women, and/or intersex, transgender, takatāpui, queer and gender diverse youth through musically-facilitated programmes that allow them to explore and be validated in their creativity.

About

Girls Rock Aotearoa has helped young women, trans, intersex, takatāpui, queer and gender diverse youth to explore music since 2018. In our To The Front programmes, youth form bands, build instrument skills, participate in workshops, write their own songs and perform at a showcase for their whānau and friends.

By creating safe, inclusive spaces free from the existing gendered and age-related barriers to music participation, our youth programmes encourage and strengthen musical engagement, personal growth, connection and community in their participants.
