We want to promote the welfare and care of all people with ASD, their families or primary care givers and to foster understanding and provide education and information about ASD.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects approximately 93,000 New Zealanders.
The traits associated with autism span a wide spectrum and lead to a different way of seeing the world and interacting with others.
Autism New Zealand has worked continuously with the community to deliver thousands of educational programmes that increase public understanding of autism. We assist individuals and their family/whānau members to learn about autism and find the services they need.
Support
Supporting individuals and families living with autism, who need active, personal assistance in a compassionate manner that helps them and their community including liaising with other agencies on their behalf.
Advocate
Advocating for those with autism by providing submissions on relevant legislation and providing comment on government policy relating to autism and raising awareness of autism to promote inclusive behaviours in society.
Inform
Informing individuals, families professionals and the wider public about autism via a variety of mediums including social media, website, newsletters and resources as well as distributing the latest information and research relating to autism.
Autism New Zealand has been a part of the autism community for 50 years and has become well established organisation with 16 branches offering information and support as well as delivering education courses nation-wide.
