Every year there are over 60,000 births in Aotearoa New Zealand. 25% of women and 10% of men, and their wider families, will suffer from perinatal depression. New parents are more at risk of suffering perinatal mental health and admission to inpatient psychiatric services in the first weeks after the birth of their baby than people at any other stage in their life.
We educate care providers on strategies when working with parents from a wide range of cultures. We address stigma and discrimination and help care providers practice without judgement and personal bias.
