Instrumental music and art song bring joy, reflection and hope to our hearts! Much of it was created a long time ago in far away places. We are supporting the incredibly talented composers right here in Aotearoa to create high quality music that reflects our experiences, joys and concerns as New Zealanders and then ensure that music is available and heard. We want people in Aotearoa to feel proud of our heritages and our incredible musical talent, and know that our voices are heard here and around the globe...
... Like in our latest project, where we have collaborated with iconic environmental organisation Forest & Bird, to have a concert of new music created to celebrate their centenary in 2013. The concert of music reflects areas of environmental concern and success right here in Aotearoa, like our wonderful Canterbury braided rivers, our incredible bird life and even our little native pekapeka bat! Or the magnificent opera by Aotearoa's literary giant, Witi Ihimaera, 'Flowing Water' that tells the story of our bicultural history through a unique mix of kapa haka, opera, drama and dance. 3000 people saw Flowing Water and thousands more are listening to the soundtrack via CD and digital audio, and thousands will hear the new Forest & Bird concert next year as it is performed throughout the country.
PACT receives no regular funding and we rely on donations and grants to continue our mahi.
